Otis - Puppy Logbook

The short version: Your data stays on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We can't see it, access it, or sell it. The only thing we receive is anonymous crash reports to fix bugs.
What Data the App Stores
Otis stores the following data on your device and (if you enable sync) in your personal iCloud account. This data belongs to you — we have no access to it:
- Puppy profile: Name, breed, birth date, home date, and size category
- Events: Logged activities (meals, potty breaks, sleep, training, etc.) with timestamps and optional notes
- Photos & videos: Media you choose to attach to events
- Saved locations: Places you save (like your vet or favorite park) with GPS coordinates
- Documents: Vet records, vaccination certificates, and other files you upload
- Preferences: Your app settings and notification preferences
What Data We Receive
- Crash reports: When the app crashes, anonymous technical information is sent to Sentry to help us fix bugs. This does not include your puppy data, photos, or personal information.
- That's it. We don't receive your puppy profiles, events, photos, locations, or any other content you create in the app.
Where Your Data Lives
- On your device: All data is stored locally on your iPhone and Apple Watch, encrypted by iOS
- Your iCloud: If you enable sync, data is stored in your personal iCloud account — this is your Apple account, not ours
- Family sharing: If you invite family members, shared data syncs through iCloud to their devices
Crash reports: Processed by Sentry (privacy policy)
Data Sharing
Since we don't have access to your data, we can't share it. Your data may only be shared in these cases:
- Family sharing: With people you explicitly invite to share your puppy's profile (via iCloud)
- Crash reports: Anonymous technical data is processed by Sentry to help us fix bugs
- Legal requirements: If required by law (though again, we don't have your data to share)
Your Rights
Since your data stays on your device and iCloud account, you have full control:
- Access: All your data is visible in the app — it's on your device
- Export: Export your data at any time from within the app
- Delete: Delete local data by removing the app; manage iCloud data through your iCloud settings
- Permissions: Revoke location, camera, or other permissions at any time in iOS Settings
For EU residents: You have additional rights under GDPR. Since we don't store your personal data on our servers, most data-related requests are handled directly through your device and iCloud account.
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as you keep the app installed. Delete the app to remove local data. iCloud data can be managed through your iCloud settings. Crash report data is retained by Sentry for up to 90 days.
Children's Privacy
Otis is designed to track puppies, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app may be used by families, and parents/guardians are responsible for their children's use of the app.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest. iCloud data is protected by Apple's security infrastructure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above.
